Countdown to Performathon: More Than 500 Students to Participate in Performance Marathons on April 21 at Queens Center Mall, and April 28 at Atlantic Terminal Mall

Nonstop music from morning ‘til night will mark Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music’s
Performathon 2007 at Queens Center on April 21, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Atlantic Terminal Mall on April 28, also from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Student ensembles and individuals from the Conservatory’s Flushing and Park Slope campuses will appear at these first-ever fundraising events which will benefit the Conservatory’s scholarship and faculty development funds. Admission to Performathon 2007 is free.
Ensembles to perform at Queens Center include: Diploma Jazz Trio, Jazz Vocal Workshop, Jazz Suzuki Improvisation Group, Suzuki Violin Playdown, 8-Hand Piano Ensemble, Children’s Chorus, Keyboard Adventures, and Jazz Instrumental Workshop. Student soloists will give voice, piano, and violin solo performances.
Brooklyn-based ensembles performing at Atlantic Terminal Mall include Community Orchestra Woodwind Trio, Men’s R & B Quartet, Teen Quartet, Adult Jazz Choir, Teen Jazz Ensembles, Suzuki Violin Playdown, Suzuki Ensembles, Youth Orchestra, Children’s Choir, as well as the Vocal Performance, Youth Brass, and Teen Brass Ensembles. There will be soloists on voice, piano, violin, saxophone, drums, flute, and viola.
BQCM students are collecting pledges from family and friends who support their performances. Local businesses are supporting the Performathon through sponsorships, advertising in the free program guide to be given out on the day of the performance, and by donating prizes for raffles to be held at both Performathons..

Founded in 1897, Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music is one of the oldest and largest nonprofit community schools of the arts in the nation.
